Drayage Operations Specialist

 

Position Details

 NTG is seeking motivated individuals with a desire to start a career in the fast paced and rewarding Freight brokerage business. We are growing rapidly and have positions available in all of our regional offices.  As a Drayage Operations specialist, you will be responsible for booking and tracking loads with carriers in a certain region of the United States. The position includes overseeing the quoting process for all NTG branches, coordinating directly with our intermodal and drayage carriers, resolving issues, and enhancing the overall efficiency of the department. As a Drayage Operations Specialist you will also obtain volume quotes by means of inbound and outbound calling to carriers, as well as provide support for the sales team.

Primary Responsibilities and Daily Tasks

  • Obtain and negotiate rates with drayage carriers and provide quotes to brokers
  • Book and track shipments within your region and provide timely updates to brokers and customers as needed
  • Calling regular carriers daily to secure equipment
  • Obtain Proof-of-Deliveries from carriers and assist with invoice corrections as needed
  • Booking and tracking shipments as well as issue resolution within your dedicated region
  • Participation in the growth of the office
  • Collaborating with other branch locations 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred
  • 6 months to 1 year of prior experience in freight forwarding, ocean freight, import/export operations, or transportation preferred but not required
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem solving skills
  • Energy  to work hard and do well that will inspire and motivate team members to join them in our quest to find solutions, meet our goals, and provide exceptional service to our customers
  • MS Office skills and related computer knowledge
  • Competitive nature
  • Organized and effective under pressure, able to multitask and handle multiple issues at one time
