Job Title: Quality Assurance Specialist
Supervisor: Quality Assurance Manager
FLSA Status: Salaried/Exempt
Work Schedule: Full time; Monday-Thursday (4-10’s)
POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the incumbent serves as a Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist, providing QA services for the infrastructure contract scope of work to help in maintaining compliance with customer QA requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Other duties may be assigned.)
- Perform oversight activities such as independent audits, field surveillances, and vendor audits
- Identify and initiate process improvements
- Maintain the internal oversight program
- Develop quality specifications for purchases and perform receipt inspections
- Conduct inspections for suspect/counterfeit items
- Maintain Operational Experience/Lessons Learned program
- Maintain the Issues Tracking System
- Assist in the identification of key performance indicators. Collect and evaluate data, then communicate results to senior management
- Gather, process, and evaluate data to support the quarterly trending analysis report and other metrics as assigned, and draft reports, documents, and presentations to present data evaluation to the project team.
- Prepare the quarterly trending analysis report using Microsoft Excel to collect and analyze data and prepare appropriate charts and graphs
- Assist other groups in the development of QA program plans and statistical sampling plans
- Conduct/lead causal analysis process to ensure identification of causes that when corrected will eliminate the problem
- Review standards and directives, providing guidance to the organization on compliant implementation
- Train and coach co-workers and managers on auditing skills and processes
- Conduct technical reviews of procedures and other documents as requested to ensure implementation of the quality system requirements
- Review purchase requisitions for QA compliance
- Review work packages for QA compliance
- Assist responsible managers in developing corrective action plans for issues identified in both internal and external audits
- Travel occasionally for audits and conferences
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Occasional temporary assumption of QA Manager responsibilities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND KEY COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, applied science, or technical field preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the QA field or other applicable technical experience (e.g., project management, regulatory compliance monitoring, quality control, quality inspections, operations, maintenance)
- Previous U.S. Department of Energy QA experience highly preferred
- Previous ISO 9001:2015 experience preferred
- Verifiable participation in at least four (4) quality audits
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with data entry and use of web-based applications (databases)
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy “L” security clearance; a “Q” security clearance may be required as future needs dictate
- Demonstrated attention to detail office environment
TRAINING, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must be a citizen of the United States and authorized to work in the US
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a government vehicle
- NQA-1 Lead Auditor certification or other nationally recognized quality program certification in auditing (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Auditor or Certified Quality Engineer) desired
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to meet the physical capacity requirements of this position as determined by the Occupational Medical Provider
- Able to wear company-provided personal protection equipment if/when required
- Must be able and willing to work in a radiological facility
- Must be willing to work in the field as needed to support projects
