Position Summary
This position provides excellent customer service by assisting retail customers, home builders, decorators, and landscape contractors in the selection of brick, stone, pavers and landscape materials by promptly and courteously answering with their questions, assisting with purchases, efficiently processing their orders. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Develops a working knowledge of products manufactured and/or distributed by Reimers Kaufman, including new products. Continuously update product knowledge through any available resources. Stays informed and educated as to product inventory and applicability. Knows location and availability of merchandise.                                        

Establishes and maintains good relations with customers, in person and over the phone, by providing courteous and professional service, and assures accuracy, efficiency, and attention be given to the customer in a professional and responsive manner.

Performs data entry and retrieval on computer system, including entering of customer orders, sister company transfers, obtain quotation information, inventory information and pricing.

Answers customer service inquiries regarding Reimers Kaufman products, including general product information, pricing, and complaints in a professional and responsive manner. Maintain accountability of customer inquiries until answered, solved, and closed.

Assists sales staff with sales quotes, mailings, or any account research as needed.  Provide product/job quotes as appropriate. Keeps mailings, price lists and sales history updated on computer as needed.

Assists in handling customer complaints and concerns and make sure the problem is corrected to the customer’s satisfaction.

Knows and follows credit card and check authorization policies and procedures, knows the warning signs that could indicate bad checks, poor credit and business risks.

Assists customers in identifying the specific product they are looking for based on their requirements and suggesting alternatives if required and/or up-selling of related product(s). Generates delivery and pick up orders for cash sale customers and charge accounts.

Performs as backup dispatcher, when needed, and assists with answering phones.

Stocks displays and shelves with proper products, assure items are priced and up to date literature is maintained.  Keep showroom stocked, clean and neat.

Assures SDS forms are maintained and up to date for accurate information and immediate review.

Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and one year certificate from college or technical school; and 
  • Six months experience in construction merchandising and sales experience preferred; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid Driver's License

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Word. Experience with Lawson software helpful, but not required.
  • 10 key calculator skills.
  • Must have good attention to detail capabilities and be customer oriented.
  • Spanish speaking skills are helpful but not necessary.
