Casella Construction is seeking to add new team members to our Land Clearing Team. The role of the Land Clearing Ground Person helps foreman, head of crew, and tree climbers with tree removals, pruning, and debris disposal. Land Clearing Ground Person safely uses tools and equipment such as, but not limited to chainsaws, axes, and chippers. This is a unique entry level opportunity to develop your career in arboriculture through hands-on, on-the-job training.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a safe work environment.
  • Ensures all work sites are kept clean and free of hazards.
  • Maintains and operates equipment such as hand tools, chainsaws, and chippers.
  • Assists with Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders.
  • Learns to cut, prune, and chip trees and shrubs under the guidance of the Foreman or Crew Leader.
  • Learns proper techniques and use of tools form Foreman or Crew Leader.
  • Uses appropriate gear and observes safety protocols.
  • Adheres to company and environmental regulations at all times.
  • Inspects equipment and tools and performs repairs when required.
  • Controls lowering ropes and supply tools for tree workers.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High School or GED preferred.
  • Vocational training preferred but not required.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • 1 year of experience preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to Travel.
  • Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
  • Ability to remain flexible as assignments change.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and supervisor.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Possess a positive attitude and desire to learn.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and climb inclines for the duration of the shift.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather.
