A successful Payroll Specialist handles the daily administrative and HR duties of an organization while providing direct support to the Director of Talent Development/HR with record maintenance, payroll processing, and additional clerical support to all employees. To ensure success, the Payroll Specialist should display remarkable conflict management and decision-making skills with a solid understanding of employee relationships, staffing management, and payroll and benefits administration.

Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly payroll for 100+ employees through the PEO.
  • Manage timekeeping process, including support to employees and managers serving as a system administrator.
  • Balance the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Updates payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles, and department/ division transfers.
  • Prepare payroll and benefits entries with a solid understanding of accrual-basis accounting, job-costing, and labor allocations.
  • Support all internal and external HR related inquiries or requests.
  • Maintain digital and electronic records of employees.
  • Assist with the recruitment process by performing reference checks, background checks, and coordinating recruitment events.
  • Oversee the completion of benefit documentation.
  • Participate in HR related audits.
  • Complete termination paperwork and exit interviews.
  • Keep up to date with the latest HR trends and best practice.

  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Candidate must have a high attention to detail and must possess excellent reasoning ability.
  • Team focused individual with demonstrated ability to Multi-task and handle competing priorities while meeting or exceeding deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of the team with the ability to identify and resolve routine problems.
  • Must possess positive attitude to enhance a cooperative and energetic work environment.
