A successful Payroll Specialist handles the daily administrative and HR duties of an organization while providing direct support to the Director of Talent Development/HR with record maintenance, payroll processing, and additional clerical support to all employees. To ensure success, the Payroll Specialist should display remarkable conflict management and decision-making skills with a solid understanding of employee relationships, staffing management, and payroll and benefits administration.
Responsibilities:
- Process weekly payroll for 100+ employees through the PEO.
- Manage timekeeping process, including support to employees and managers serving as a system administrator.
- Balance the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
- Updates payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles, and department/ division transfers.
- Prepare payroll and benefits entries with a solid understanding of accrual-basis accounting, job-costing, and labor allocations.
- Support all internal and external HR related inquiries or requests.
- Maintain digital and electronic records of employees.
- Assist with the recruitment process by performing reference checks, background checks, and coordinating recruitment events.
- Oversee the completion of benefit documentation.
- Participate in HR related audits.
- Complete termination paperwork and exit interviews.
- Keep up to date with the latest HR trends and best practice.
