POSITION SUMMARY

Wm. D. Scepaniak Inc. is a national leader in Sand & Gravel Production and Heavy Highway Construction.  The CDL A Truck Driver positions are: Heavy Haul – Belly Dump – Side Dump – Water Trucks.  Applicant is responsible for safe and proper transportation of construction equipment and materials. Operates truck tractor to transport material and equipment to and from construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive and operate heavy duty truck to and from destination
  • Inspect truck before and after trips and complete daily vehicle inspection reports (DVIR’s) as required
  • Must be able to drive manual transmission truck
  • Maintains driver logs according to federal, state, and local regulations
  • Operates within applicable safety guidelines as defined by government regulations, the company’s safety manuals and stated safety policies
  • Performs work in a manner so as to prevent damage to company equipment, facilities, and product
  • Maintain CDL and clean driving record per DOT and company rules and regulations
  • Treats all customers (both internal and external) with respect and courtesy
  • Use Critical thinking and problem-solving techniques to overcome daily challenges on project sites.
  • Submit timecards and applicable reports weekly
  • In this role, the CDL A Truck Driver will report to the Project Manager
  • Other duties as assigned to meet company goals and objectives

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be open to travel throughout the construction season.  Our operations are 100% portable and are primarily in MN, ND, and SD.
  • Candidates must submit to a pre-employment urinalysis as well as background check
  • Considerable knowledge of heavy-equipment delivery operation
  • Experience working with DOT rules and regulations (Desired)
  • Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations, including road hazards while operating equipment
  • Previous experience operating truck/trailers over-the-road (long or short haul) with emphasis on multiple deliveries is preferable
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to deal with unexpected problems that may arise during the operation of heavy equipment
  • Ability to pass all licensing and certification requirements by the DOT, including medical examination
  • Flexibility: ability to work in a number of diverse locations is pertinent, as work locations may change daily
  • Expected hours: hours will vary by job, location, and season

Education and Experience:

  • Class A CDL operator’s license
  • Possess a Federal Medical Card
  • Ability to pass both pre-employment and random drug tests as required by the DOT
  • Clean motor vehicle record
  • Clean federal pre-employment screening program (PSP) report
  • 1-3 years and 100,000 miles of previous driving experience (Desired)
  • Continually required to reach, pull, carry, grab, pull, and lift

Positions are non-union and seasonal dependent on weather conditions and workload; however, the typical schedule is March-November.  Candidates can expect to work 60 hours per week (12-hour shifts, Monday-Friday).  Exceptions may be made given weather delays and project deadlines.  Candidates must be able to work both day and night shift throughout the season, as crews alternate at times.
