Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with worldwide design control of the audible alarm and electro-mechanical switch product families
  • The alarm family includes back-up alarms, forward warning horns, and audible warning devices; the switch family includes rocker, toggle, limit, and pushbutton switches
  • These components are purchased finished from industry suppliers and utilize electromagnetic and piezoelectric technology
  • The candidate will manage suppliers in the development of new products utilizing established processes for specification, sourcing, design & process verification, and production launch
  • The engineer will also be responsible for projects focused on usage of existing components in new system applications, quality improvement, and cost reduction
  • All aspects of the engineer’s role require a strong focus on product safety and regulatory compliance

 Required Experience 

  • Requires an accredited bachelor’s degree in mechanical, agricultural, or electrical engineering
  • Experience with the design or support of construction/mining, industrial, and/or heavy equipment
  • Knowledge of engineering, procurement, and manufacturing systems
  • Incumbents have usually gained 3 to 5 years of experience and are able to autonomously complete complex assignments
  • Experience with the maintenance, continuous improvement, and development of new electrical/electronic components in collaboration with suppliers
  • A basic understanding of the principles of sound & acoustics and electro-mechanical switch operation
  • Familiarity with SAE & ISO standards governing the use of alarms on off-road and self-propelled machines
  • Knowledge of APQP, ProE, geometric dimensioning & tolerancing, 6 Sigma, reliability, circuit design, and EMC/EMI

 Required Skills

  • Strong communication, teamwork, project management, and technical skills are required to collaborate with customers, suppliers, product support, purchasing, systems engineering, and purchasing
